Liberian visa is fairly straightforward.
I took a 3,000le moto to the embassy. It’s an unmarked gate on Spur Road. The building quite a nice villa, a flag hanging (but invisible from outside, the walls are high and the ground steep). Inside I waited to be announced and I was led to the consul/ambassador’s office.
The visa is $100, my 2006 dollar bill wasn’t “new” enough, I didn’t have another but I had smaller bills, which are precious to me – I doubt I will find many people who will have change from $100 in Liberia (Liberia uses both Liberian and American dollars). The smaller bills the gentleman took without even looking at them.
I filled the form, got the receipt for payment (!) and was told to come in two days, on Wednesday. I asked if he could possibly make it till next day, tomorrow. He said that it normally takes 5 (five) working days. I asked again, he said to come tomorrow. When I asked what time he said anytime after 10am. Which means the visa takes 10mins to issue.
I showed up at 10:10am the next day, the same moto driver found me on the street and took me. With me entered a Japanese tourist. It’s the 3rd tourist I met in Sierra Leone, seriously people, where do you all come from here?
His visa and mine were both ready.
