Visa to Nigeria – not soon, friend

Having chatted with my Nigerian friendly spirit Amyn about getting to Nigeria – Amyn agreed to give me invitation to the country, I tried to start the process.

Officially – if I follow the website rules – I have to do the application online, pay, and then follow with an appointment at the embassy.

But I know someone who used to arrange visas for us in the past and he was extremely efficient with Nigerian visas, we didn’t have to go to the embassy in person, the visas were granted the same day, good vibes only.

I called the man, after so many years he still does the visas, yet he immediately told me I can forget about the embassy in Warsaw: they stopped issuing visas altogether. I can also forget about finding out why: they gave no reason and it doesn’t look like it’s covid-related

because those who really need Nigerian visas (apparently sailors go there) get them in the Hague. For about 900EUR of various fees.

I asked Tomasz to get the update, perhaps the embassy has some mercy. 10 minutes later he called me back, saying there is no change.

I would really want to go back to Nigeria, even if only to Lagos – the state of things keeps deteriorating over there from what I hear – but yeah, I don’t really want to go back so hard so that I go all the way to the Hague, with a thousand euros in pocket.
