I applied online, via a travel agency, at visitsierraleone.org, the cost is $120. They say it’s 1-2 business days, then they say it’s 2-3 days, then they say I should apply 10 days before travelling to the country. We’ll see.
It’s called landing permit and the name kinda suggests it’s an airport arrival permit but I asked twice and twice they said I’ll be able to enter the country via a land border with Guinea.
From what I read SL visa costs $100 in Conakry and takes two days, $120 paid online isn’t bad when considered accommodation in Conakry and time spent. I may even avoid going to Conakry at all – transport in Guinea is so far scarce and rough and Conakry isn’t a pretty city.
Update: the visa has been sent to me the following day but it states the point of entry to be Freetown International Airport. The agency that arranged it however is adamant that it will not pose any problem when entering by land.
Hi Barnikta, nice post. Can you Plz share your experience after you received your landing permit from VSL travel by email? you took print of landing permit and submitted to airport immigration and what they gave you in return (eg sticker visa or stamp visa ) ? thanks

Hello. I crossed the border by land, near Kailahun. I had the landing permit from VSL with me. In the passport I got just the entry stamp. There were no problems on the border. Now, as far as I know, many countries no longer need visa for Sierra Leone anymore. Good luck and all the best!

Thanks for reply. You had original landing permit or printout of landing permit which is emailed by VSL ?
